UEFA Women's Champions League
by Clayton Schembri - 16th August 2021Birkirkara Women`s team, composed of a contingent of twenty-six people, including twenty players and six technical staff members, has left Malta this morning to start their journey in the UEFA Women's Champions League, which will be played between the 18 and 21 August in Scotland.
In their eighth participation in the Women's biggest club competition, the Stripes were handed a tough draw in Group 2 of the UEFA Women's Champions League against the champions of Scotland, Glasgow City FC. The winner/loser of the match will then take on the winner/loser of the match between BIIK Kazygurt of Kazakhstan and ŠK Slovan Bratislava.
The Maltese Champions continued to build on their squad from last season by signing Maltese international defender Charlene Zammit and Ruth Steer Chetham. The club also signed Portuguese forward Flavia Fartaria.
The Stripes will take on Glasgow City FC in their first match on 18 August and will then face the winner/loser of the match between BIIK Kazygurt of Kazakhstan and ŠK Slovan Bratislava three days later.
The twenty-player squad for the disposal of Coach Melania Bajada is the following:
