Eight Birkirkara players called to provisional squads

Eight Birkirkara players were called up to the provisional National squads by Head Coach Mr. Pietro Ghedin and the Under 21 Team Head Mr. Ray Farrugia. Four players were called with the First team and the other four with the Under 21 team.

The players that are part of the Senior team are Joseph Zerafa, who will be making his return, Gareth Sciberras, Shaun Bajada and Paul Fenech. Rowen Muscat, Leighton Grech, Terence Vella and Ryan Scicluna will be forming part of the Under 21 team. This is the first time that Ryan Scicluna was chosen to be part of this team.

Both teams will be in action in the first days of June in a friendly match and two European championship qualifiers.

The Malta A team will take on Luxembourg in a friendly match on Saturday 2nd June. The Under-21 side will play two UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifiers in Slovenia and then Sweden on Friday 1st and Wednesday 6th respectively.

National team coach Pietro Ghedin named a provisional squad of twenty four players for the Luxembourg friendly. Besides Joseph Zerafa, Cleavon Frendo, Dyson Falzon and John Mintoff will also be returning to the team. Two new faces are Hibernians defender Ryan Camilleri and Melita striker Julian Galea.

Midfielders: Edmond Agius (Valletta), Shaun Bajada (Birkirkara), Roderick Briffa (Valletta), Clayton Failla (Hibs), Dyson Falzon (Valletta), Paul Fenech (Birkirkara), John Mintoff (Sliema) , Gareth Sciberras (Birkirkara);

Forwards: Daniel Bogdanovic (unattached), Andrew Cohen (Hibs), Cleavon Frendo (Valletta), Julian Galea (Melita), Michael Mifsud (Valletta), Andre Schembri (Panionios - GRE).

Ray ‘Zazu' Farrugia named the following players for the Under 21side:

Forwards: Jean Paul Farrugia (Marsaxlokk), Leighton Grech (Birkirkara), Miguel Ciantar (Balzan), Steve Pisani (Hibs), Terence Vella (Birkirkara).
