Match Report: Birkirkara FC 1-2 Valletta FC
by Ayrton Galea - 5th May 2018Champions Valletta FC claimed the double as they defeated Birkirkara FC with a 2-1 score in-front of more than 7,000 people in the final of the BOOST FA Trophy played on Saturday afternoon.
Valletta surged ahead four minutes from half-time thanks to Kyrian Nwoko, following a corner by Miguel Alba. The Citizens scored their second goal twelve minutes from time thanks to a solo-action by Santiago Malano who after advanced on the left, he drilled a fine shot past Naumovski.
The Stripes got back in contention three minutes from time thanks to a direct free-kick by substitute Ognjen Rolovic as his effort was deflected and surprised Bonello. Birkirkara put everything forward in the last stages, but Valletta held strong to complete the double.
