Carlo Mamo was born on 23 April 1979 and in his career he played twice for Birkirkara F.C.
Carlo began his career with his home town's club, Tarxien Rainbows in the 199798 season. Carlo went on to make 14 appearances and score one goal during the season. However his first season ended in disappointment as Tarxien Rainbows finished in 10th position in the Maltese Premier League, condemning the club to relegation to the Maltese First Division.
Mamo stayed with the same club with the aim to help Tarxien Rainbows gain a quick return to the Maltese Premier League. However the team failed to gain promotion, and remained in the Maltese First Division.
Following a string of impressive performances for Tarxien Rainbows, Carlo joined Birkirkara for the 19992000 Season. The move was an instant success as Mamo helped his new club win the Maltese Premier League title. Throughout the season, Carlo made 25 appearances. This was the first honour ever for Carlo in his football career.
Despite the successes of the previous season, Carlo opted to leave Birkirkara to join Sliema Wanderers for the 20002001 Season. In his first season with Sliema Wanderers, Mamo made 19 appearances and scored one goal, and he helped the club to finish in the second place in the Premier League.
Carlo started the 200102 season, as an established member of the first team squad. The club finished one position worse off than the previous, as they finished in the 3rd place in the Premier League. Carlo made 24 appearances.
The 200203 season was one of triumph for Carlo, as he won his second Maltese Premier League title, and his first with Sliema Wanderers, making 17 appearances and scoring one goal.
The success continued for Carlo and Sliema Wanderers during the 200304 season, since the club won the Premier League again, with Mamo making 24 appearances.
In Season 2004-05, Carlo Mamo left Sliema Wanderers to join the ambitious club of Marsaxlokk. During this season, Carlo made 21 appearances and scored two goals, and helped his new club to a 5th place finish in the Premier League.
Carlo started the 2005-06 season with Marsaxokk hoping to help them claim some silverware. Mamo went on to make 24 appearances and score one goal. Marsaxokk finished in the third in the Maltese Premier League.
Carlo Mamo and Marsaxlokk reached the heights of Maltese football during the 2006-07 season, as Mamo captained Marsaxlokk to the Maltese Premier League title for the first time in the club's history. Carlo proved instrumental in the club's success, forming a solid partnership in the centre of the Marsaxlokk defence with fellow Maltese international defender Luke Dimech. During the season Carlo made 25 appearances and scored two goals.
For the 2007-08 season, Carlo was hoping to help Marsaxlokk retain the Maltese Premier League title, however the club suffered the loss of many important players. Marsaxlokk defied the odds and finished in 2nd place in the Maltese Premier League, with Carlo making 19 appearances and scoring one goal.
Carlo went into the 2008-09 season captaining Marsaxlokk to an unlikely 4th place finish, despite an extremely disappointing start to the season, but following a corruption case against the club and Marsaxlokk were relegated to the Maltese First Division. Carlo went onto make 24 appearances, but failed to score throughout the season.
Following the verdict of relegation for Marsaxlokk, Mamo showed astounding loyalty, by signing a new three and a half year contract with the club, despite reported interest from the clubs of Qormi and Tarxien Rainbows.
In the 2009-2010 season Carlo started the season with Marsaxlokk and till January he managed to make six appearances.
In the January Transfer Market, Birkirkara were looking for a left back and on the 20th January, Birkirkara agreed terms with both Carlo Mamo and Marsaxlokk to a loan transfer for the player until the end of the season.
His spell with Birkirkara FC was a satisfactory one as he earned a regular place and made eleven appearances. However, he ended the season on a bad note as in the match against Hibernians he was having a disappointing performance and to make things worse, Carlo fractured his arm to lose the last two important matches of the season.
On Friday 30th April, Birkirkara were declared the new champions as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows with a solitary goal before on Wednesday 5 May, The Stripes' were presented with the deserved Premier League title which meant the second one for Carlo Mamo with Birkirkara.
After the season's end, Carlo Mamo returned to his club Marsaxlokk where he had another successful season with Marsaxlokk ending their Premier League commitments in the 4th place.
