Patrick Borg was born on 13 August 1987 and he has established himself as a promising youngster from our nursery.
Patrick made his debut for 'The Stripes' against Msida St. Joseph in 15 April 2006 when our team beat 'The Saints' with a 4-1 score line with Borg being included as a substitute. This was not an easy job as it might seem because Birkirkara were just a few games away from their second Premier League title and they could not afford any loss of points. It was a positive note for Patrick to debut in the season when Birkirkara were crowned Champions and this surely motivated him more for his career.
The 2006-2007 season was one to be forgotten by the whole clan as 'The Stripes' disappointed too much in certain games, and they only managed to achieve third place in the league. This meant participation in the Intertoto Cup, the only time that Birkirkara participated in this competition. Patrick's season however was a positive one as whether was on the field or not, he was always there to support and help his team mates when it was needed.
A season later, in the 2007-2008 Patrick Borg was loaned out to Msida St. Joseph where he had a very successful season and in fact he put his name on the scorers list twice. This proved to be a season that saw Patrick improve his defending skills in no small way.
In the 2008-2009 season, which can be described as another disappointing one for Birkirkara, Patrick spent the first four months of the season with 'The Stripes' but in the January transfer market he was loaned out to Mqabba to continue improving his skills and acquire more playing experience.
Patrick was loaned out once again in the 2009-2010 to Mqabba where he had another positive season with his name being included on the scorers list for another time.
In 2010-2011 season, Patrick is back with 'The Stripes' and he was included in the last minutes of the UEFA Champions League match against MSK Zilina in the first leg which was played in Malta with Birkirkara achieving a historic 1-0 result. In the second leg Birkirkara lost with a 3-0 score line but Patrick's performance was one to remember, due to his determination and concentration.
In the Premier League Patrick made no less than 14 appearances and he started in all the matches. In the second match of the second round Patrick Borg scored the winning goal against Floriana as ‘The Stripes' emerged as winners with a 1-0 score. This was the first goal ever with Birkirkara and an interview by this website he said that it was the best moment in his career so far.
In season 2011-2012 Patrick Borg was loaned out for one year to Marsaxlokk F.C.
Patrick's loan with Marsaxlokk could be described as an adventure with two sides. Without any doubt, the positive side was Patrick's solid performances throughout the season. On the other hand, were the problems that plagued Marsaxlokk which ended with their relegation after having finished in the last place.
With ‘The Blues', Patrick made 23 appearances in which he began 20 matches and he was included as a substitute three times.
Following this personally successful spell, Patrick was offered another one year contract with Birkirkara which he signed on Thursday, 21 June and was included as a substitute in the last 10 minutes of the match on the same day in the 5-0 loss against Hibernians.
Despite Patrick signed a fresh contract with our Club, both the player and the Club decided that it was in the best interest of both parties that he will be loaned out and he joined Rabat Ajax on loan for one year.
