Reuben Gauci was born on the 28 October 1983. He joined Birkirkara FC on loan basis in January 2012.

Reuben who is a Floriana FC product made his debut in the Premier League with ‘The Greens' on the 22 August 2002, in the 1-0 defeat against Hamrun Spartans. With Floriana he played no less than 32 games before in 2005 he moved to Marsaxlokk.

On the international level, Reuben was with all the National Sectors starting from the Under 16 and finally, he was deservingly called with the National Squad in 2005 when he was still with Floriana. The first match that he was called up was against Sweden which was played on the 4 June 2005. With Malta he made his debut on the 8 June 2005 in the 4-1 loss against Iceland.

With Marsaxlokk, Reuben made his debut on 11 August 2005 in the narrow 2-1 win over Hamrun Spartans. In 2008 he was loaned out to Qormi and since them Reuben was a regular goalkeeper with 'The Blues' where he made 41 appearances.

His loan spell with Qormi saw Gauci making 13 appearances for the Yellow-Blacks. His debut arrived on 14 September 2008 in the comfortable 3-0 win over Tarxien Rainbows.

In the 2010-2011 season, Reuben was back with Marsaxlokk and he helped his team achieving the fourth place in the Premier League.

Season 2011-2012

Reuben began the 2011-2012 season with Marsaxlokk, but after the Stripes released their two foreign goalkeepers namely Aleksander Canovic and Jorge Morge, they signed the Marsaxlokk FC goalkeeper, Reuben Gauci for a five-month loan spell.

Rueben made his first appearance with Birkirkara in a friendly match against Dingli Swallows. His official debut was on the 8th January in a Premier League match in a 1-0 defeat against Sliema Wanderers, who scored the decisive goal in the 92 minute.

Reuben's loan spell with our Club was definitely a positive one as he gave very good performances which helped the defence to be more confident and solid.

In the Premier League, Reuben made 15 appearances in which he managed to register five clean sheets.

Season 2012-2013

Following his successful spell with our Club in the 2011-2012 season, the committee decided to acquire Reuben from Marsaxlokk FC and he signed a two year contract on Tuesday, 19 June 2012.

The 2012-2013 season produced a season of two halves for Gauci, which certainly ended in a brilliant way as the Stripes won their fourth Premier League title in their history.

Having been a regular choice in the first phase of the season, Gauci's performances reflected the class of this goalkeeper as he was the least goalkeeper to concede goals till January 2014. However, with the Stripes in a tug-of-war battle for the first position, and with Gauci's condition uncertain, the committee decided to sign National goalkeeper Justin Haber.

This led Reuben to lose his regular place as Haber was the regular choice goalkeeper for the Stripes in the final run. However, despite Haber ending the Championship as the regular choice goalkeeper, one should also give credit to Gauci for his excellent 2012-2013 season where he made sixteen appearances.

Season 2013-2014

In the 2013-2014 season, Gauci had little time to show his skills as the Justin Haber remained the number one goalkeeper for the Stripes. During the 2013-2014 season, the former Marsaxlokk FC goalkeeper made just one appearance in the BOV Premier League.
