Birkirkara FC shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Sliema Wanderers FC yesterday at the National Stadium. This draw leaves The Stripes fourth in the table on thirty-eight points, one point ahead of Sliema.

Coach Andre Paus made two changes from the last match, Francesco Verde replaced the suspended Enrico Pepe, while Caio Prado replaced Alex Alves De Paixao.

Sliema took the lead on the 24th minute after Michele Sansone put Juri Cisotti in space on the right flank and the latter quickly sent a low cross towards Danny Holla, who blasted the ball past Guarnone.

The Stripes levelled matters seven minutes later, from a Cain Attard long throw-in, the Sliema defence failed to clear the ball away and in came Luke Montebello who chested the ball before flicking past goalkeeper Jake Galea after hit the crossbar.

In the second half, the Stripes started to inch their way up the field and on the 53rd minute Caio Prado hit home from close range, after received the ball from Montebello's deflected cross-shot from the left.

Birkirkara suffered a setback on the 79th minute when defender Oscar Carniello was shown his second yellow card.

The blues took little time to make the most of their numerical advantage as six minutes from time they scored the equalizer, when Dejan Vukovic had a shot from the right blocked and off the rebound, he served Danny Holla hit a firm drive that had the better of Guarnone.

Birkirkara had the chance to win the game in the last minute, when Montebello sped past two defenders and hit a rasping drive that came off the bar as the stalemate prevailed.
