Buttigieg -'The distractions have nothing to with our progress'
by Ayrton Galea - 4th April 2019Coach Mark Buttigieg stated that the distractions over the past weeks have nothing to do with the progress of the team while goalkeeper Andrew Hogg is focused on helping his side to continue the pursue for European football next season.
The Birkirkara Coach started his adventure with a last minute victory over Sliema Wanderers FC as the Stripes remain on track for their challenge to secure a place with the top-four of the BOV Premier League.
Addressing a press conference held by the Malta Football Association in view of this Friday's match against Hibernians FC, Buttigieg opened by saying, “The distractions over the past weeks have nothing to do with the progress the team is doing and their concentration during training.”
“We are ready for this challenge, we know Hibernians need to win at all cost but we have our targets and my players are ready to silence the critics and give their utmost in this match. I believe that if everyone focuses on his job, we can take points even from this encounter”.
Goalkeeper Andrew Hogg will be facing his former side after switching clubs in the January Transfer Market. Hogg enjoyed a positive spell with the Paolites, but the Birkirkara goalkeeper is now only focused on helping the Stripes reaching their targets.
“I am just focused on my present, notwithstanding my days with Hibernians, my club now is Birkirkara FC, there is big competition in the side and must keep concentrated to win back our supporters, but above all to keep our pursue for a European place next season”.
On the upcoming match, he said, “we are focused we know the strength of our opponents and will be doing our utmost to build on the victory last week”.
Birkirkara FC will take on Hibernians FC in one of the two big matches of the BOV Premier League, when the two sides will go head to head in a match that will be played on Friday evening at the National Stadium (Kick Off - 19:00).
