Match Report: Birkirkara FC 1-2 KI Klaksvik
by Ayrton Galea - 8th July 2018Birkirkara FC are eliminated at an early stage in the UEFA Europa League, following succumbing to a 2-1 defeat against KI Klaksvik to enable the latter to advance to the next round with a 3-2 aggregate score.
KI Klaksvik surged ahead on the second minute of added time of the first half. Jákup Andreasen's corner kick on the first post created havoc inside the box, with Deni Pavlovic, scorer of the first leg, hits home from close-range.
KI Klaksvik made a significant step towards the qualification when they doubled the lead just before the hour mark. Goalkeeper Kristian Naumovski blocked two attempts, but the rebound fell to Páll Klettskard who fired home.
Birkirkara scored a late goal just before the start of added time of the second half. Andelkovic sent a fine cross inside the box and Marcellinho was first on the ball as he rose high and hit a powerful header past goalkeeper Kristian Joensen.
