Dimitrov wins BOV Player of the month for January

Birkirkara FC's offensive midfielder Srdjan Dimitrov played a key-role for his team to revive their hopes of finishing in the first three places of the BOV Premier League and he was voted BOV Player of the month for January 2017.

Dimitrov, who was also voted the BOV Player of the month for August 2016, was voted the BOV Player of the Match in Birkirkara's first two victories in January against Mosta FC and Pembroke Athleta FC with an identical 2-0 score.

He delivered an excellent free-kick to Predrag Jovic who headed home in the victory against Mosta. On the other hand, in the match Pembroke, he scored the first goal and assisted the second one to Edward Herrera.

His last performance in the month of January against Hibernians FC was also an electrifying one and he made a very a significant assist. His corner ten minutes from time was headed home by Nikola Vukanac as the Stripes won the match with a 2-1 score.

”A very good feeling to win this award again” – Dimitrov

We have spoke with the twenty-four year old following this award, “It is a very good feeling to win this award again. This team is the most deserving for this award. I would like to dedicate this award to grandmother who is very ill.”

Dimitrov's performances improved this month and he explains the reasons behind it. “I ‘charged my batteries' - I was home, I saw my family and friends, besides obviously training hard to have better performances.

Finally, Srdjan concluded by saying, “My personal ambitions are tied for the team, of course, but would like more goals and assists. I think this team will not easily surrender in the fight for the title.”

Bernard Azzopardi, Manager of Bank of Valletta's Birkirkara Branch presented the BOV Player of the Month Trophy for January 2017 to Dimitrov who chose Dar Pirotta to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
