Under-19's Team through the Knockout's Semi-Final
by Ayrton Galea - 13th April 2016Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team advanced to the Semi-Final of the Youths' Knockout when thanks to an excellent performance yesterday evening, they defeated Mosta with a 3-2 score thanks to a goal each by Clint Zammit, Kurt Zammit and Matthew Guillaumier.
It was a top-level match between two teams who ended their league commitments with just one point between them as Mosta ended third and the Stripes in the fourth position. Both teams had won a game each in the league as the first-match was won by the Stripes while Mosta emerged victorious in the second-round match.
The Stripes surged ahead on the sixteeinth minute thanks to Clint Zammit but Mosta scored twice to turn the score in their favour. However, just before half-time, Kurt Zammit grabbed the equalising goal before eleven minutes from time, Matthew Guillaumier notched the winning goal.
Birkirkara will now be facing Marsaxlokk, who placed third in Section E, in the semi-final. The match will be played on Tuesday, 26 April at the Centenary Stadium and it will kick off at 20:15.
