Under-19's Team keep marching on
by Ayrton Galea - 10th March 2016Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team continued on their positive run and they registered their fifth victory in the last six matches when thanks to two goals in the first-half by Kurt Zammit and Diego Bartolotta saw them overcoming the challenge of Pieta Hotspurs FC with a 2-0 score.
Kurt Zammit opened the score after fifteen minutes following a good move on the left to put the Stripes one up and Diego Bartolotta doubled the lead ten minutes later thanks to a well-taken direct free-kick. A result which was unchanged as the Stripes showed character and held strong for another positive result.
Thanks to this victory, the Stripes strengthened their fourth position and are just two points away from second-placed Balzan and just one point away from Mosta. The Stripes will be facing Mosta while Balzan will take on Champions Hibernians who mathematically won the title for the second year running.
