Birkirkara FC Under-15's Team returned to winning ways on Sunday afternoon, when thanks, to a brilliant display they overcome the challenge of Sliema Wanderers with a score of 3-1.

The First Half

Birkirkara took control from the start and they opened the score after five minutes. Following a perfect cross by Aiden Micallef, Carlo Zammit Lonardelli's close range header gave no chance to the Sliema keeper to save.

The Stripes continued to dominate with some good possession and flowing football and on the twenty-first minute, they doubled the score. It was another cross from the right from Aiden, that was met from outside the penalty area by Kyle Mifsud, whose strong angled low shot hit past the Sliema keeper.

Birkirkara continued to have the lion's share of possession and added a third goal on the twenty-eight minute. Another shot by Kyle Mifsud from outside the penalty area was partially saved by the keeper, and Ayton Attard was well positioned to pounce and hit the ball into the back of the net.

The Second Half

The second half was characterised by Birkirkara dictating the game with Sliema doing their utmost to defend. With the game in the complete control of Birkirkara, Coach John Vella affected all five substitutions in the second half.

On one of the rare occasions when Sliema ventured out of their half, on the sixty-fifth minute, Sliema managed to get one goal back. A long high ball towards their striker was not timed well by Birkirkara's keeper and unfortunately punched the ball into his own net.

This goal had no effect on our boys since they continued to dominate until the final whistle. It was overall a good performance, which put the team back in the title race with one point behind leaders Hibernians, but Birkirkara have a game in hand.
